Luce Loft Downtown San Diego Wedding - Nick + Allison Did a Thing!

Okay Okay Okay, I’ll come right out and say it. I cry at weddings. I cry during toasts, vows, I cry when I edit. Sometimes I just can’t handle your love, okay?

One thing that is important to me is getting to know my couples, learning about them, what they’re like as a couple, things they enjoy, all that good stuff. However, one of the best things I get to witness is their wedding reflect who they are the whole day through. Aside from the set-up/details, attire, venue, it’s always the people there on that day who play the biggest role in making the wedding feel like them. I hear it in the way the officiant speaks or conversations of guests and the wedding party. It shines through (for obvious reasons) during toasts. I get to be this fly-on-the-wall turned into a friend and watch a village of people celebrate these two at the most precious time of their relationship. I know what you’re thinking, HOW FREAKING COOL IS THAT? Anyway, all this to say - Nick and Allison’s wedding was long awaited and I got to finally see it come together in the most beautiful way.

To just start off, Luce Loft is one of my favorite venues for it’s industrial, gritty vibe. It’s stripped down to cement walls and floors with metal detailing and long industrialized windows. It’s a space that can easily be converted into whatever you’re dreaming up while maintaining the essence of the space. Gritty and gorgeous as heck. I’ve shot at Luce before, but was so excited to get back in there for Nick and Allison’s wedding.

Everyone got ready a few blocks away at Hotel Indigo and we headed outside for a first look. We frolicked the surrounding blocks for portraits and booked it over to this epic mural I found by Pandr Design Co as soon as I found out Allison loves a pretty wall. I mean come on, not going to ignore that pretty little gem right around the corner. Usually, I feel at least a little bad for making the whole wedding party (girls in particular) walk in their heels all over the world and back (just kidding I would NEVER) but Allison is a certified genius and wore sneakers with all her bridesmaids, so #guiltfreezone.

The ceremony was so authentically beautiful. Allison’s dad met her half way down the aisle and then walked her the rest of the way. I kind of loved it! It was this rad way of watching a bride take half the journey on her own but then also having her father there at the end of it. They asked Grace, a pastor at their church (Flood), to officiate their ceremony, their vows were so sweetly perfect. Like some of my favorite vows I’ve heard, and yes the enneagram was mentioned in the vows. They also did something that I haven’t seen before - giving a rose to each parent during the ceremony. It was God filled. It was thoughtful. It was perfect. It was where I saw the biggest smiles on Nick that whole day; standing right in front of his bride.

The rest of the night Curiocity dined us, toasts + dancing entertained us, and Donut Bar made our mouths pretty dang happy. Did I mention there was the most epic duo of female DJs? The day was solid gold.
