Winter Wedding in the Mountains || Phil + Rita married in Julian, CA
I really value my time getting to know each of my couples. I love knowing not only the vision for the wedding day but all the fun quirks that draw each other in. The hobbies, relationships around them, their favorite bar/coffee spot/activity, you name it…I love finding out these fun details about my couples. One of those opportunities for me to get to know each one is the complimentary engagement session I offer with my wedding package. Rita and Phil opted out for an engagement session (which I understand and have experienced before with out of state couples, elopements, etc.) So, needless to say I was pretty anxious to get to their wedding and see their day unfold and learn more about them.
Weddings are such a magnificent opportunity to see each couple and who they are. Through family and friends being near all day, toasts, photos displayed at the wedding, notes, signature drinks, or other fun little details you really get to know so much about that relationship and the two people in it.
I loved watching this day unfold. As soon as I got to the venue, Phil and his groomsmen were the first to greet me with big smiles and a warm welcome. Next was Rita who was busy getting her hair done, but gave me the most excited and joyous greeting. Their happiness was contagious and I was planted right in the middle of it all. (Seriously, I love my job).
Not to mention, the 90% chance of rain clouds patiently waited for us to be finished with all portraits before opening up and letting it rain.
We had the best luck with the weather, but more than just luck I just felt this divine spirit carry us through the whole day. At one point, Rita even spotted a deer during the bride and groom portraits. My lovely little Snow White bride. (If you’re a follower of my blog then you know I have this thing for wild animals showing up at weddings - J+L, R+M, H+B. God, if you’re listening please don’t invite coyotes or snakes to any weddings I shoot.)
I could go on about the love felt over this day, but I think you get it. I cherished this day to get to know Rita and Phil more and be there to document and witness the start of a marriage that will surely be something incredible.
Rita + Phil, thank you so much for inviting me in to document this snippet of your love. I am sending all my love and best wishes to you on your adventures together as husband and wife!
